A reflective-or stretcher-, i.e. decorative, sheet (4) is tensioned over an empty frame (2) or platform. It is heated in situ; at the same time a carrier frame (8) is glued down onto it. After the adhesive sets, the sheet is released from the empty frame (2) or platform. Finally, the protruding parts of the sheet are edge-trimmed. During assembly, the sheet is pressed into the inner cavity formed by the empty frame, through a predetermined distance, by means of the carrier frame; it is then held down, until the sheet has cooled off. In addition to the method descried, the plate made by its use, is also claimed.
