A method wherein chopped dry ingredients are prepared using a kitchen food chopper (10) with a bowl (12) containing a vertical rotary spindle (16) whose lower end supports a cutter (29) and is releasably inserted into a bearing (25) at the bottom of the bowl (12), and a power unit (32) releasably mounted on the bowl and containing an electric motor (40) with an output shaft that can be coupled to the cutter spindle (16). The method for making a dredger comprises chopping up the dry ingredients, then removing the power unit (32) and the cutter spindle (16) from the food chopper (10), and releasably attaching a cover (55) to the chopper bowl (12) containing the chopped dry ingredients (51), said cover having holes (57, 58) for dispensing said ingredients (51) when the bowl (12) is turned upside-down.
