Laser pulse detector sensing direction and duration of incident pulses

The system has three sensors with cylindrical bodies, each having capture windows forming a band around the cylindrical body. These may be of constant width, or may have a width which increases according to an exponential law as a function of the angle of sight of the sensor as in the third cylinder (C1). One of the first two sensors (C2) has a skirt masking a part of the window, making this sensor sensitive to direction. The light signals detected by the sensor bodies are transmitted by optical fibres (L11-L31) of different length to a photodetector (PD) which is connected capacitively (CL) to logarithmic amplifier (AL). This is followed by an analogue-digital coder (CAN) and a processing circuit (DT).
