Modular illuminated display with removable transparent display panels

The illuminated display panels are attached to a support with a mounting which does not require mechanical assembly. The display panels are made of a transparent material illuminated by internal reflection and refraction, with the light provided by one or more sources contained in the rail or post which supports the display panels. Each display panel can be written to with suitable marking pens and can also be easily erased. Permanent messages can be formed by engraving the material of the display panel or by fixing paper to its surface using adhesive. The mounting for each panel can be blocked to prevent unwanted transmission of light when a panel is removed.
