SEALING END FACE MATERIAL FOR MECHANICAL SEAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a sealing end face material for mechanical seal, having excellent sliding characteristics such as wear resistance, etc. ;SOLUTION: This sealing end face material 1 for mechanical seal is obtained by providing the surface of a base material 2 composed of silicon carbide with a deposited coated layer 3 composed of a β type silicon carbide polycrystal. The surface at the end face side of the deposited coated layer 3 is highly orientated in at least one crystal plane of (111), (220) and (311) planes in the indication of Miller indices.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
