PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatically holding and releasing device capable of automatically holding and releasing seedling containers with a simple structure, when seedlings taken out from a seedling bed are received in the seedling container and carried. ;SOLUTION: Hangers 31, 32, 33, 34 for holding a seedling container 70 receiving seedlings 60 are disposed, and attached to a holding and releasing device 20 so as to be freely moved to positions for releasing the seedling container 70 or positions for holding the seedling container 70.
