The machine (2) includes at least one front plough (15) for creating one or more furrows (V) in the soil and at least one planting device (16, 16') forming an extension of the plough and mounted on the machine frame (3). The planting device is rotatable about a horizontal axis and comprises a central, dimensionally-stable disc, a first flexible disc in contact with one side of the central disc and a second flexible disc in contact with the other side of the central disc. Press parts mounted on the frame are used to press the side discs against the central disc in order to clamp the seedlings (P) into position on either side of the central disc. Spacers mounted on the frame are used to keep the side discs at a given distance from the central disc during planting so that two rows of seedlings can be dropped into the furrow. The press part comprises a roll which can be urged against a side disc under spring tension.
