PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust water in a cultivation area of a paddy field to a fixed water level and to irrigate the underground of the cultivation area with water at a fixed water level. ;SOLUTION: This water level adjusting unit 20 installed along the cultivation area of a paddy field comprises a supply and drain water weir 21a for supplying and draining off water in the cultivation area at the upper part of a supply and drain water measure 21 to be supplied with water. An opening part 21e for underground irrigation for sending water to a culvert pipe for underground irrigation laid underground in the cultivation area at the lower part of the supply and drain water measure 21. The opening part 21e for underground irrigation is opened and closed by a gate valve 26c. A water level adjusting part 25 is installed in the supply and drain water measure 21 so that water is supplied from the supply and drain water weir 21a and the opening part 21e for underground irrigation to the cultivation area of a paddy field and the culvert pipe, respectively so as to make the water level of water in the cultivation area of a paddy field and the underground water level reach fixed values, respectively and excessive water in the supply and drain water measure 21 is drained from the supply and drain water measure 21.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
