PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a grain oriented silicon steel sheet reduced in noise as well as in iron loss in the case of being used as an iron core for electrical equipment such as transformer. SOLUTION: This steel sheet is a finish annealed grain oriented silicon steel sheet. The surface of this steel sheet has, in great numbers, linear high dislocation density zones or linear grooves, extending in a direction intersecting the rolling direction of the steel sheet, at 1-30 mm average spacing in the rolling direction. Moreover, the standard deviation of variations of the spacing between respective high dislocation density zones or between respective grooves is regulated to =15% of the average spacing.
