PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a medicine for suppressing or alleviating mammalian diseased symptoms or biological disorders characterized by neuropeptide (NPY) or related to NPY, by using a specific compound capable of controlling activity of the NPY by selectively bonding an NPY receptor. SOLUTION: An effective amount of a compound of the formula [R1 is methyl; R3 is phenyl; R2 is NH, (CH2 )3 COOH, piperidinyl or the like] or its salt is administered. A dose is preferably 0.1-15 mg/kg/day. A unit dosage form preferably contains 1-500 mg of the compound of the formula in general. In the case of orally or parenterally administering the compound to an animal, a dose is preferably 0.05-10 mg/kg/day. For example, obesity, hyperphagia, heart-related diseases such as cardiac failure, central nerve system-based diseases such as anxiety, schizophrenia, etc., may be cited as the diseased symptoms or biological disorders treatable by the compound of the formula.
