PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Faraday rotor capable of making it unnecessary to accurately align two reciprocal rotors, improving working efficiency and yield and reducing assembling cost, its assembling method, an optical isolator, and its assembling method. ;SOLUTION: A wavelength plate 2 is stored in a storing recessed part 43 of a mold 4, a Faraday rotor 1 is stored in a storing part 41, a wavelength plate 3 is stored in a storing recessed part 52 of a fixing jig 5, and the jig 5 is fitted to the mold 4 so that the plate 3 is abutted on the rotor 1. Consequently respective wavelength plates 2, 3 are not mutually superposed on a pair of mutually parallel faces of the rotor 1 and are arranged so that one side forming angles 22.5° and -22.5° with a slow shaft of the rotor 1 accurately divides an optical beam into two beams.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
