PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the symmetrical characteristic of a high frequency electric field so as to provide a coupler for acceleration tube, which can straightly accelerate the charged particles, by leading the high frequency electromagnetic wave into a resonance cavity from outside through a buffer cavity provided on the same axis in relation to the resonance cavity in a lead-in part. ;SOLUTION: A cylindrical coupler cell 1 and plural regular cells 2 are overlapped with each other on the same center axis L, and each resonance cavity 1a, 2a,... are communicated with each other through opening windows 2b,... so as to form a cylindrical acceleration tube. In this coupler cell 1, a connecting cavity 1g communicated with a wave guide tube 3, an iris wall 1e forming an iris part 1f, and an intermediate coupling cavity 1c communicated with the resonance cavity 1a through a narrow clearance of the wall part 1b are provided concentrically in relation to the center axis L. High frequency electromagnetic wave supplied from the wave guide tube 3 is led to the resonance cavity 1a from the intermediate coupling cavity 1c as a buffer cavity, and charged particle beam led through a lead-in hole 1d is accelerated in the high frequency electromagnetic field.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
