PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject formulation having the selectivity between Echinochloa crus-galli Beauv. var. praticloa Ohwi and a directly sown rice plant without increasing the phytotoxicity to the directly sown rice plants by including 2',3'-dichloro-4-ethoxymethoxybenzanilide as an active ingredient therein. ;SOLUTION: This formulation is obtained by adding (A) 2',3'-dichloro-4'- ethoxymethoxybenzanilide, (B) at least one of a high-molecular surfactant having 1,100-700,000 molecular weight (e.g. a poly4-vinylpyridyne type cationic surfactant) and (C) at least one of a low-molecular surfactant having a lower average molecular weight than that of the ingredient B by at least 400 and ≤1,100 average molecular weight (e.g. sodium lauryl sulfate) to water and stirring and mixing the resultant mixture in a homomixer, etc., at 3,000 15,000 r.p.m. The amount of the added ingredient A is 0.1-65 wt.% based on the formulation and the average particle diameter of the formulation is 15-30 μm.
