THREADED JOINT STRUCTURE FOR THIN-WALL PIPE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a threaded joint for a thin-wall pipe, easily manufactured and thread-fitting the thin-wall pipe and a joint member positively with simple structure and jointing thin-wall pipes to each other through the joint member. ;SOLUTION: A threaded joint 1 is composed of a thin-wall pipe 2 and a joint member 3, and thin-wall pipes 2a, 2b have tapered external threads 4a, 4b of corrugated spiral shape in the whole thickness on the outer surface of pipe end parts. A piping socket 3a having a tapered internal thread of corrugated spiral shape on the inner surface is used for the joint member 3. Since the external thread of the thin-wall pipe 2 is of corrugated spiral shape in the whole thickness, its effective pipe thickness is almost equal to the pipe thickness of a thin-wall pipe body so as to be able to hold the strength of the threaded joint, and because of its tapered shape, when the pipe end of the thin-wall pipe 2 is inserted in one end of the joint member 3 and brought into contact to generate relative rotation of the thin-wall pipe 2 and joint member 3, the thin-wall pipe 2 and joint member 3 are thread-fitted by thread engagement caused by clamping, and the thin-wall pipes 2a, 2b are jointed through the joint member 3a.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
