PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit the germination of the subject seeds by heating the seeds to a set temperature by irradiating a microwave and also adding prescribed energy amount by the microwave. ;SOLUTION: A livestock excrementitious matter or a compost 12 formed by fermentation of the livestock excrementitious matter is irradiated with a microwave 13 and heated to a set temperature, and further a prescribed energy amount based on the unit volume of the livestock excrementitious matter or the compost 12 formed by fermentation of the livestock excrementitious matter is added thereto by the microwave 13 in the method for inhibiting the germination of the subject seeds. An apparatus for inhibiting the subject germination can be constituted of a microwave heating device having a microwave-generating device 10 attached to a heating room 11 for preventing leakage of the microwave, a sensor 15 for watching a temperature of the livestock excrementitious matter or the compost 12 thereof in the heating room 11, and a controller for controlling the operation of the microwave-generation device 10 based on the value detected by the sensor 15.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
