PURPOSE: To correctly detect the fault of such a protocol conversion program that carries out its processing only with reception of a processing instruction and is set in a stand-by state for the next instruction after the first instruction is processed. ;CONSTITUTION: The telegraphic messages which are sent to an application program part 3 from a protocol conversion program part 4 are monitored. If such messages are not outputted for a fixed time, a test telegraphic message is sent to the part 4. When the test telegraphic message is sent to a communication part 5 from the part 4, the message is returned to the part 4. Then it is checked whether the returned message is sent to the part 3 from the part 4. Based on this check result, the presence or absence of faults is detected for a protocol conversion program.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
