PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent erroneous detection for an address mark caused by a synchronizing pattern affected by a defective bit by making a pattern in which run length is a pattern of the upper limit value or more of the run length limit of the synchronizing pattern and in which the patterns including a symbol 1 of odd numbers in channel bits are repeated plural times as the address mark. ;SOLUTION: A pattern of an address mark includes a pattern of run length (n) [nm, n≠rm+(r-1), r: a natural number] of a symbol 0 for the upper limit value (m) of the run length of the symbol 0 of a synchronizing pattern. A pattern of the run length (m) of the symbol 0 is arranged adjacently to the pattern of the run length (n) of the symbol 0 and further a pattern in which patterns including a symbol 1 of odd numbers are repeated an even number of times is made to a pattern of the address mark. Thus, erroneous detection for the address mark caused by a reproduced pattern of the synchronizing pattern affected by a defective bit can be prevented.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
