PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent erroneous detection for an address mark caused by a synchronizing pattern affected by a defective bit by making a pattern in which a pattern being same as the synchronizing pattern is arranged adjacently to the pattern satisfying run length 13 when the upper limit value of the run length limit of the synchronizing pattern is 3 as the address mark. ;SOLUTION: A pattern of an address mark includes a pattern of run length (n) [nm, n≠rm+(r-1), r: a natural number] of a symbol 0 for the upper limit value (m) of the run length of a symbol 0 of a synchronizing pattern. A pattern of the run length (m) of the symbol 0 is arranged adjacently to the pattern of the run length (n) of the symbol 0 and further a pattern in which patterns including a symbol 1 of odd numbers are repeated on even number of times is made to a pattern of the address mark. Thus, erroneous detection for the address mark caused by a reproduced pattern of the synchronizing pattern affected by a defective bit can be prevented.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
