PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain the shape of the acicular crystals of a primary product of tungsten or molybdenum and to produce a metallic material improved in the quality by composing a metallic material of either one of a tungsten base metal and a molybdenum base metal and regulating the ratio of the crystal orientation of a specified plane therein to specified value or above. ;SOLUTION: This metallic material is composed of either one of W, W alloy, Mo and Mo alloy, and in which the crystal orientation of the (110) plane is regulated to ≥90%. By this crystal orientation, the metallic material uniform in the crystal orientation can be obtd. so that the radiability of electrons is improved in particular. For obtaining the metallic material, the powdery raw material of W, W alloy, Mo or Mo alloy is sintered to obtain a rod stock, and the primary product of the metallic material obtained by subjecting the rod stock to mechanical working is housed in a sealed container, is heated at the recrystallization temp. or below of the metallic material in a nonoxidizing atmosphere and is pressurized under pressure conditions where the volume of the metallic material shrinks with the lapse of time.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
