PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parallel type shearing device improved in the buffer property of shearing blade carriages. SOLUTION: The parallel type shearing device 10 has the carriages 12, 14 supporting shearing knife elements 32, 34 which are movable back and forth so as to move closer to or apart from each other along parallel slides 18, 20 and overlap on each other so as to shear fused glass flow. The operation of the carriages is obtd. by a unidirecitonal operation type servomotor 36. This servomotor imparts oscillation motion via a connecting rod 46 to a bell-crank 22. The servomotor is mounted at a turning bracket 40 and this turning bracket is pressed to its normal working position by a pneumatic cylinder 44. The turning bracket is pressed by a spring and is parted from its working position in case of the occurrence of a working stop. The pneumatic cylinder is acted with the buffer action to minimize the impact load generated by the sudden retraction of the servomotor mounting bracket and is freely adjustably mounted at the fixing structural member of the shearing device.
