PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for automating the treatment from pulverizing to composting of garbage, etc. and successively treating the garbage in the optimum fermentation state. SOLUTION: This method for successively treating an organic material comprises (S1) a step for connecting two or more fermentation treatment vessels having a stirring devices and temperature-detecting means in series, (S2) a step for quantitatively charging a raw material obtained by stirring and pulverizing a fermentation promoter with previously seeded fermentation microorganisms, and the organic material such as garbage to the first fermentation treatment vessel, (S3) a step for regulating the conveying amount of the raw material in the semi-fermented state from the upstream side fermentation treatment vessel to the downstream side fermentation treatment vessel so that temperatures in each fermentation treatment vessels may be kept at the temperature in the latter half of the rise period of the heat of fermentation or in the constant temperature period while measuring the temperature in each of the fermentation treatment vessels, and (S4) a step for properly discharging the composted organic material from the final fermentation treatment vessel.
