PURPOSE:To prevent trouble such as bending or breakage caused by oxidation by a method wherein both end portions of a roller for a high temperature roller hearth kiln composed of recrystalline SiC near outside than an inner side surface of a furnace wall contain oxidation proof agent including Mn and Cu under a predetermined rate in weight in respect to a weight of the recrystalline SiC. CONSTITUTION:A roller 1 is passed through a furnace body 2 of a high temperature roller hearth and fixed. Its entire substance is of recrystaliine SiC. Oxidation-proof agent containing Al2O3 and CaO is immersed in the entire roller 1. The oxidation-proof agent does not generate any film for restricting oxidation unless its temperature is high. In view of this fact, both end portions 3 of the roller 1 near outside than inner side of a furnace wall, i.e., one part passing through the furnace wall and the other part out of the furnace contain oxidation-proof agent with a rate of Mn+Cu in respect to that of recrystalline SiC of the roller 1 at both ends being 0.2 to 3.5 under a metal conversion. With such an arrangement, oxidation restricting film can be positively generated at a part of the roller which is shielded by the furnace wall and does not reach a high temperature.
