PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable burning in a high temperature range by increasing mechanical strength of a ceramic roller at a high temperature and reducing reactivity in a roller hearth kiln. ;SOLUTION: In a roller for a roller hearth kiln wherein a burning material is carried continuously for burning by means of driving rotations of a number of rollers arranged at a specified pitch in a furnace body, rollers comprise an outer roller R2a made of ceramics of low reactivity, and an inner roller R2b made of ceramics of high heat resisting strength to be inserted into the outer roller R2a. In a dual roller setting where the inner roller R2b is inserted into the outer roller R2a, inert gas is supplied from one end thereof, and discharged from the other end so as to maintain the inside of the outer roller R2a in a state free of oxygen.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
