NEW MATERIAL: Compounds of formula I (wherein R¹ and R² are each 1-4C alkyl) and formula II (wherein X is a residue of an acid). ;EXAMPLE: (±)-1-Ethyl-14-diethoxycarbonyl-1,2,3,4,6,7,12,12b-octahydro-indolo[2,3- a]tetrahydropyranyl[2,3-c]quinolizine. ;USE: It is used for the synthesis of an eburnane deriv. ;PREPARATION: A hexahydro-indolo[2,3-a]quinolizinium deriv. represented by formula III and formaldehyde are reacted in the presence of a base.
