PURPOSE:To obtain the title cyclodextrin which has fluorescence activity, can vary in its fluorescence intensity in the presence of a guest compound and can be used as a sensor compound by chemically modifying cyclodextrin so as to give a specified structural formula thereto. CONSTITUTION:Cyclodextrin(CD) is sulfonylated with a sulfonylating agent in a basic organic solvent, converted into an azide with an aziding agent, and reduced in the presence of a reducing agent to replace the 6-OH group of CD by an amino group. The amino group introduced into CD is combined with the COOH group of dansylamino acid or a reactive derivative of dansyl at 0 to -20 deg.C in an aprotic solvent to obtain the title cyclodextrin of the formula [wherein (n) is an integer; (m) is 0-1; and R is H or a (substituted) 1-4C lower alkyl].
