PURPOSE: To efficiently remove the torch dross to the lower edge part of the cut section of the forward and rear end parts of the slab which is gas-cut by a torch. ;CONSTITUTION: A rotary shaft is rotated at relatively low speed in the direction reverse to the advancing direction of a slab 1 when the torch dross 11 to the rear end part of the slab 1 is removed. When the torch dross to the tip part of the slab, the upper end of the locus of the outer circle of a hammer 7 is adjusted to the height which is elevated over the horizontal pass line H of the lower surface of the slab 1 by the rise of ΔH'. On the other hand, when the torch dross 11 at the rear end part of the slab is removed, the rise ΔH' is obtained by the inequality of 0.5 ΔH≥ΔH' to reduce the working amount of the hammer 7.
