High precision system for counting insects

The invention relates to a measuring method and device for registration of the activity of insects, done through the application of a counting system that registers the numbers of passages to and from the insect colony. Specifically, use is made of a number of channels (3) that are equipped with a single light beam (5) that activates a double photodiode (6) to make it possible to detect the movement. The design of the channel box incisions (7) is altered in such a way that it creates a minimum of inconvenience for the insects. The walking surface has a change of level fitted with an adapted surface (4) in the area where the channel zone is located. This stops a continuous passage through the channels. An asynchronous sequential algorithm is used per channel in order to determine the in/out direction.IMAGE
