The invention refers to a simple hybrid of maize (Zea mays L. var. aorista) named Granit (HSF 112-91), obtained through the cross-breeding of two inbred lines, recommended for cultivation in the southern and western plains of the country, whether irrigated or non-irrigated (favourable temperature areas I and II), intended for human consumption, animal fodder, and the alcohol, starch and glucose industry. The plants are hardy, with a stem height of 230 ... 260 cm, with 18 semi-erect leaves, with a single corn cob inserted at the height of 100 ... 120 cm. The cob is 20.5 ... 22.5 cm in length, with a base diameter of 4.5 cm, a diameter of 4.0 cm at the top, and has 16-18 rows of grain. The weight of 1000 grains is 320 g. The vegetation period is 132 - 143 days. The plant is highly resistant to drought, intense heat, shrivelling and mildrew attack. The grains contain 12.4 percent protein, 70.30 percent starch and 5.08 percent fat. Grain production averages at 4762 and 13720 kg/hectare non-irrigated and 9493 and 15850 kg/hectare irrigated.
