This invention relates to the use of Phasmorhabditis nematodes for the control of mollusc pests in agriculture, horticulture as well as pests endangering human and animal health. There are further described novel bacterial strains of Moraxella phenylpyruvica 48, NCIMB 40508 and Pseudomonas fluorescens 141, NCIMB 40509, particularly useful for supporting growth of Phasmorhabditis nematodes, in particular P. neopapillosa and P. hermaphrodita, as well as a mollusc agent containing Phasmorhabditis nematodes in combination with bacteria supporting growth thereof, a process for said nematodes production and method for the control of molluscs.
