An organic solvent containing less than 10 wt% of caprolactam is being mixed either with an aqueous solution of raw caprolactam, which raw caprolactam is produced by neutralising lactamsulphuric acid, or, with a mixture of an aqueous solution of a raw caprolactam and an aqueous solution of ammonium sulphate both produced by neutralising lactamsulphuric acid, or said organic solvent is directly introduced into a lactamsulphuric acid neutralisation stage. A two-component emulsion thereby mixed is divided into a caprolactam solution in an organic solvent, which is further treated with purification methods, and the ammonium sulphate-containing aqueous solution of caprolactam which is led to a multistage countercurrent caprolactam extraction while using the same organic solvent, or, is led back into the lactamsulphuric acid neutralisation stage, whereas total amount of water used for transferring raw caprolactam into an organic solvent leaves said process in the form of an aqueous solutino of ammonium sulphate.
