STUDY OF ANAEROBIC BIODEGRADABILITY OF RICE STRAW HYDROTHERMAL LIQUEFACTION PRODUCTS: AQUEOUS PRODUCTS AFTER EXTRACTION WITH DIFFERENT ORGANIC SOLVENTS
Organic substrates of this lignocellulosic biomass can be converted into bio-crude through HTL meanwhile a large amount of wastewater containing various nutrients will be produced in the process [l].Nonetheless, as bio-crude oil is the most desired product from the HTL reaction and most of the previous studies were primarily focused on the characteristics and potential uses of the bio-crude oil product. Relatively, little attention has been paid to the HTL aqueous phase (HTL-ap), even though it accounts for a significant fraction of the organics [2, 3]. Typical yields of the liquid products (raw products, RP) in the direct liquefaction of biomass with near-and subcritical water are in the range of 20-50%.Efficient utilization of the aqueous co-product is a key factor affecting the overall sustainabiliry of the process. The aqueous phase can be used in either gasification or cultivation medium in those few instances [4, 5]. It has also been proposed that an anaerobic fermentation step could convert organic carbon in the aqueous to biogas [6].
