A fiberoptic connector for en-gagement to the end of a fiberop-tic cable (12) has an inner termi-nus member (24) that is mechani-cally, frictionally engaged to an op-tical fiber portion of the fiberopticcable (12). There is also an outerterminus member (28) that is mechanically, frictionally mounted uponthe optical fiber. The outer termi-nus member (28) has a terminus boreformed therein, having a cone shapedimpact mount surface. The innerterminus member (24) is disposedwithin the terminus bore, such thatthe cone shaped impact mount sur-face is disposed in contact with an impact mount surface of the inner terminus member. The fiberoptic connector splice for the alignedinterconnection of two fiberoptic connectors includes a first alignment sleeve portion to align first portions of the fiberoptic connectors, anda second alignment sleeve portion to align second portions of the fiberoptic connectors. The two sleeve portions may be a part of a singlealignment sleeve member.
