A fiberoptic connector foren-gagement to the end of afiberop-tic cable (12) has an innertermi-nus member (24) that ismechani-cally, frictionally engaged to anop-tical fiber portion of the fiberopticcable (12). There is also an outerterminus member (28) that isme-chanically, frictionally mounted uponthe optical fiber. The outertermi-nus member (28) has a terminus boreformed therein, having a cone shapedimpact mount surface. The innerterminus member (24) is disposedwithin the terminus bore, such thatthe cone shaped impact mountsur-face is disposed in contact with an impact mount surface of the innerterminus member. The fiberoptic connector splice for the alignedinterconnection of two fiberoptic connectors includes a first alignment sleeveportion to align first portions of the fiberoptic connectors, anda second alignment sleeve portion to align second portions of the fiberopticconnectors. The two sleeve portions may be a part of a singlealignment sleeve member.
