Fan for transporting solid material, especially biological material such as silage, grass or corn comprises a housing (1) containing a rotating fan wheel which is used to transport material from an inlet to an outlet. The inside surface (6) of the housing around the wheel is provided with cladding (14) of wear resistant, low friction material in the form of a replaceable belt secured into the housing. The belt is held down at the front end (8) of the housing, relative to the rotation direction (R) of the wheel, and the opposite end of the belt can move inside a grip in the rear end of the housing. Preferably the belt comprises polyethylene or polypropylene and is lubricated with graphite or molybdenum disulphide.
