Formulations based on a water-soluble fraction of Phlebodium decumanum, and its use in the treatment of cachexia in AIDS patients. The formulations comprise EXPLY-37 a standardized variety of Phlebodium decumanum cultivated planting Lake Yojoa (Honduras), along with, optionally, Phlebodium decumanum rhizome crushed rhizome extract Phlebodium soluble fraction frondes, purified and decumanum, and appropriate excipients for the presentation of these formulations in the form of powder, capsules or syrups. These formulations are suitable for oral treatment of cachexia in AIDS patients.
