Formulations based on a water-soluble fraction of Phlebodium decumanum, and use thereof in the treatment of the cachectic syndrome in AIDS patients

The formulations include EXPLY-37, a purified and standardized water-soluble fraction of fronds of the variety of Phlebodium decumanum grown at the Lake Yojoa plantation (Honduras), together with, optionally, ground Phlebodium decumanum rhizome, Phlebodium decumanum rhizome extract, and the appropriate excipients for presentation of these formulations in the form of a powder, capsules or syrups. These formulations are suitable for the treatment of the cachectic syndrome in AIDS patients by the oral route.
