ENVIRONMENTAL ETCH RESISTANT, TWO-COMPONENT, COATING COMPOSITION, METHOD OF COATING THEREWITH, AND COATING OBTAINED THEREFROM

A two component composition suitable for coating a substrate comprises atleast one crosslinker having a functionalitythereon which is reactive with a functionality on at least one film formingpolymer present in a separate component of thecomposition. The crosslinker comprises at least one member selected from thegroup consisting of: (1) an isocyanurate of isophoronediisocyanate; (2) a derivative of an isocyanurate of isophorone diisocyanate;(3) a biuret of isophorone diisocyanate; and (4) aderivative of a biuret of isophorone diisocyanate. The composition preferablycomprises a blend of the crosslinker with a secondcrosslinker, wherein the second crosslinker is at least one member selectedfrom the group consisting of: (1) an isocyanurate ofhexamethylene diisocyanate; (2) a derivative of an isocyanurate ofhexamethylene diisocyanate; (3) a biuret of hexamethylenediisocyanate; and (4) a derivative of a biuret of hexamethylene diisocyanate.The invention also pertains to a process for coating asubstrate using the composition, as well as to a cured coating formed by theprocess of the present invention.
