A combustion-powered, fastener-driving toolcomprises a structure defining a combustion chamber anddefining a driving piston cylinder, which has a wall anddefines an axis. A nosepiece is mounted to saidstructure and communicates with the driving pistoncylinder. A driving piston mounting a driving member isarranged to be axially driven within the wall of thedriving piston cylinder upon combustion of a fuel in thecombustion chamber, so as to drive the driving memberfrom an uppermost position wherein the driving member isretracted from the nosepiece into a lowermost positionwherein the driving member is extended into thenosepiece. A combusted gases-actuated mechanism isemployed for feeding fasteners from a collated strip offasteners individually and successively into thenosepiece. Combusted gases are diverted from thedriving piston cylinder so as to actuate the feedingmechanism when the driving piston is driven. Combustedgases are taken in through the wall of the drivingpiston cylinder, at a location between the uppermostposition of the driving piston and the position of thedriving piston when combusted gases are exhaustedthrough one or more ports in the wall of the drivingpiston cylinder.
