The present invention relates to a farnesyl-directed cysteinecarboxymethyltransferase nucleic acid and polypeptide, especially one which isobtainable or derived from a human. The nucleic acid and polypeptide is usefulin diagnostics and in assays for identifying agents which modulate signallingpathways, especially pathways involved in the cell cycle, cell proliferation,and cancer.
