Dual axis retroreflective articles that combinedual axis retroreflection and three axis retroreflection toprovide a steady glow due to the three axis retroreflectiveportions of the article and also provide intermittent orflashing retroreflection as the plane of retroreflectionfrom the dual axis retroreflector passes through or near thelight source. The retroreflective articles may also includedual axis retroreflective structures in combination withsparkling reflective structures, as well as dual axisretroreflective structures in combination with both threeaxis retroreflective structures and sparkling reflectivestructures. In use the autoreflective article 130 isrotated about an axis 129 passing through the surface ofarticle 130 in which facets are located. As the article 130is rotated planes 120a and 120b of dual axis autoreflectionalso rotate about axis 129. As a result, the planes 120aand 120b also pass through a light source 124 and anobserver 126, thereby providing intermittent retroreflectionof light that may be experienced by the observer 126 if theobserver is sufficiently close to the light source.
