Detection of pr3-specific anti-neutrophil cytoplasmic autoantibodies in human serum

The invention provides methods and materials for detecting PR3-specific ANCA in human serum as well as anti-human PR3 antibodies that bind to PR3 polypeptide such that the binding of PR3-specific ANCA from patients with biopsy-proven WG is not compromised. Methds and kits containing these anti-human PR3 antibodies and recombinant PR3 polypeptides allow reliable and reproducible detection of PR3-specific ANCA from human serum samples. The invention also provides methods employing cells that express an inactive version of recombinant PR3 polypeptide.
