The present invention provides a recombinant infectious bovine rhinotracheistis virus designated S-IBR-052 (ATCC Accession N°. VR 2443). The present invention also provides a vaccine which comprises an effective immunizing amount of the recombinant infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus designated S-IBR-052 and a suitable carrier. The present invention provides homology vectors, methods of immunization and a method of distinguishing an animal vaccinated with the vaccines of the present invention from an animal infected with a naturally-occurring infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus.
