Recombinant infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus S-IBR-052 and uses thereof

The present invention provides a recombinant infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus designated S-IBR-052 (ATCC Accession No. VR 2443). A vaccine is provided which comprises an effective immunizing amount of S- IBR-052 and a suitable carrier. A method of immunizing an animal against disease caused by infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus is also provided which comprises administering to the animal an effective immunizing dose of the vaccine. The present invention also provides a method of distinguishing an animal vaccinated with the vaccine of the present invention from an animal infected with a naturally-occurring infectious bovine rhinotracheitis virus.
