The invention relates to a method and device for determining the delivery volume of material which is transported through a delivery pipe (22) in a pulsed manner by means of a thick matter piston pump (1). The delivery volume is indirectly determined by using a structure-borne sound signal which is generated by the material flowing in the delivery pipe in a pulsed manner. Said signal is measured from the exterior at a measuring point of the delivery pipe (22) by means of a sensor (52), and is evaluated in an evaluation unit (56).
