The present invention relates to a method for producing a nanoporous material containing nanodiamonds and having a predetermined shape, wherein the method of the present invention comprises forming an intermediate having a predetermined shape of nanodiamond particles having a maximum size of 10 nm. And exposing the intermediate to a mixture of gaseous hydrocarbons or hydrocarbons at a temperature that exceeds the decomposition temperature for that hydrocarbon or hydrocarbons. According to the present invention, an intermediate having a porosity of 50-80% by volume is formed, and the mass of the intermediate is increased by up to 50% during the heat treatment of the intermediate with hydrocarbons or hydrocarbons.
