In the present invention, in the measurement of the bit error rate by using the extrapolation method, a linear equation with linearity is obtained by using the correlation coefficient between the log value of the pseudo-threshold value and the blog value of the bit error rate for accurate measurement of the bit error rate. The present invention relates to a method for determining pseudo-threshold values necessary for measuring the actual bit error rate by substituting the logarithm of the actual threshold value into a linear equation. The method determines the three pseudothresholds (x 1 , x 2 , x 3 ) used in the bit error rate measurement at equal intervals (T) and in order of magnitude (x 1 x 2 = x 1 + Tx 3 = x 2 + T) into memory in order. The number of errors obtained on the basis of the total number of samples and three pseudothresholds (x 1 , x 2 , x 3 ) is obtained through the counter. The pseudo bit error rate is calculated for each pseudo threshold value through each operator, and the blog value of the pseudo bit error rate is calculated based on the log values of the three pseudo threshold values and the respective pseudo threshold values. The absolute values of the correlation coefficients for the dublog values of three pseudo bit errors are obtained based on the log values of the three pseudo threshold values and the respective pseudo threshold values. From the absolute value of the correlation coefficient, the linearity of the log value of three pseudothreshold values and the blog value of three pseudo bit error rates is determined.
