FIELD: scintillation materials. SUBSTANCE: material is activated with thallium and contains, as admixture, metal carbonate Mex(CO3)y where Me is cationic admixture, 1x ≤ 2, and 1 ≤ y2. Absorption spectrum of material has valent vibration band linked to carbonate ion in the region of 7 mcm with absorption coefficient from 1,4•10-3 to 2•10-2cm-1. Material is prepared by melting cesium iodide, adding activating admixture of thallium iodide, and subsequent crystallization. According to invention, starting material and/or melt is supplemented by 3•10-4-5•10-3 wt % of cesium carbonate and sodium salt with 3•10-4-7,5•10-3 wt % of sodium.
