The coupling of the seat longitudinal adjustment and headrest vertical adjustment is active only on one portion of the longitudinal range of movement of the seat. The mechanical coupling means includes a lever(14) extending at right angles to the longitudinal range of movement of the seat and which by one end pivots on a point fixed to the seat and by the other end engages in a component fixed to the chassis in a predetermined position of the seat adjustment. The lever is connected to the headrest adjustment facility by bowden cables(26,27).
