Solvent-resistant PAN membranes based on polyacrylonitrile (PAN) copolymers, especially for ultra- and nanofiltration, are obtained by known processes involving phase inversion in water, using a comonomer with crosslinking reactive group(s) and performing the crosslinking reaction during and/or after membrane forming. An Independent claim is also included for a process for the production of these PAN membranes by copolymerizing acrylonitrile with a comonomer containing at least one reactive group which can effect crosslinking by reaction with itself or with a crosslinker, forming the membrane by phase inversion in water and crosslinking during and/or after the membrane-forming stage.
