Organic solvent-free aqueous emulsion as the active component of water- and oil-rejecting agents

An emulsion polymerized aqueous emulsion containing a copolymer from at least one lower alkyl methacrylate monomer, benzyl(meth)acrylate, and vinylidene chloride with a polyfluoroalkyl group containing (meth)acrylic acid ester (X), in the presence of a non-ionic emulsifier which contains alpha -(1-(allyloxy)methyl-2-(p-nonylphenoxy)ethyl)-w-hydroxy)polyoxyethylene (Y) dispersed in water is new. The ester (X) has the formula (I): CH2=CRCOOR1Rf, where: R = H, Me; R1 = divalent organic; Rf = 4-20 perfluoroalkyl; Independent claims are included for: (1) Production of the copolymer by copolymerization of 30-90 wt.% of a (meth)acrylic acid containing a perfluoroalkyl group with 70-10 wt.% of at least one monomer containing lower alkyl methacrylate, benzyl(meth)acrylate, and vinylidene chorine; (2) a water-dispersible water- and oil-rejecting agent containing the emulsion as an active agent.
